poetry: Conner Bonney

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart."

Everyone has an image shared with seven other lucky people.

But a story tells a person their memories,
their experiences all building up for a lifetime to come.

A fingerprint tells a background,
good and bad times that have come and gone in the blink of an eye.

An individual symbol that separates us from everyone else, and we’re all lost.

The Power of Words

I held the dictionary in my hands.

I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

I wanted more, more words, more phrases, more things to say, I wanted bigger, i wanted feelings, I wanted moments, I wanted noises, and pain, I wanted kisses and scars and car bombs, I wanted burning buildings and new born babies.

I tore the paper in half, I held all the answers in my hands, every syllable and synonym, everything I could possibly say, yet still was lacking, and pretty soon I wasn’t reading it, but it was reading me.

I had been chasing 26 letters my entire life only to find they couldn’t describe the wind at my back, or your hands meeting mine.

I had to live, before I could write.
