Thank you for your interest in the 2013 NMF Conference at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, August 1-4, co-hosted by Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
 
2013 Conference Highlights:
This year's Conference features some exciting programming.
  • Adult participants can look foward to hearing about the latest research during the General Session, participating in small group workshops led by the Nation's Marfan and related disorders experts, and connecting with other adults and families during the Welcome Reception, Awards Luncheon, and Farewell Luncheon. 
  • Young adults (19-25 years old) will enjoy dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, a trip to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, seeing the "real" Hollywood on a TMZ Tour and participating in a workshop track just for this age group.
  • Teens (13-18 years old) will get their questions answered during a special breakfast with expert doctors followed by small group workshops, going on a Warner Brothers Studios Tour, and dancing, playing games and socializing Saturday evening and Sunday as only the teen group can.
  • Younger children (5-12 years old) will visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, The Page Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits. Younger children will also have their own special age appropriate Q + A with expert doctors.
 
New Spanish Language Program:
For the first time ever, the NMF Conference will offer a Spanish Language Program. This program will provide Spanish speaking participants with the opportunity to attend a track of medical and social workshops presented in Spanish. A translator will be provided for larger events including the Welcome Reception, General Session, Awards Luncheon, and Farewell Luncheon. Spanish speaking participants will be offered headsets for these larger events and the translator will be providing translation in real time through the headsets.
Free Patient Health Assessments:
Conference participants who don't have access to quality medical care in their home area due to lack of knowledgeable medical professionals or lack of healthcare coverage can apply for a free patient health assessment at the Conference. Patient assessments are provided by the NMF's Professional Advisory Board doctors as well as doctors from the host hospital, Cedars Sinai Medical Center. You can apply for a free patient assessment if you are seeking a diagnosis or if you have a specific Marfan or related disorder treatment issue. Patient assessments will take place on Thursday, August 1 and Friday, August 2, 2013 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
Scholarship Program:
Scholarships are available for first time NMF Conference attendees who live in the USA. Most scholarships are partial and typically include 1 adult Conference registration and two hotel night. Children and teens are always free. 
Conference Hotel:
The 2013 Conference will take place at the Loewes Hollywood Hotel. This hotel is connected to the Dolby Theatre, formerly the Kodak Theatre, home to the Academy Awards. The hotel is also connected to the Hollywood and Highland Center, a mall, featuring all types of restaurants and shopping as well as a spectacular view of the famous "Hollywood" sign. The hotel is walking distance to many Hollywood attractions and tours and features an outdoor heated pool/lounge area and luxurious spa.
