Recent Events

Central Jersey Tall Friends Club "Dance for Marfan" was held on April 10, 2010 at the Breakers Hotel in Spring Lake, NJ.  Tall clubs, International members from several states (even as far away as Chicago), as well as Nancy and Frank Cardenas and Dan and Annette Makanoff (all members of the PennJersey Chapter), attended to help raise money for the NMF.  Many thanks go to all the hard work that the Tall Club members did to make this event a success.  Our chapter received a check for $500 from them as a donation from dance proceeds.

The Broadway musical, RENT, which played at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia on Feb. 3-8, 2009 provided our Chapter with a great awareness and fundraising opportunity.  There were 8 shows, all of which had 3-5 volunteers present to provide information and take donations from the attendees.  After 6 of the shows, Anthony Rapp, one of the actors who also was in the original cast of RENT and knew Jonathan Larson, gave a short curtain call speech about Marfan Syndrome and the NMF.  Because of the speech and the central location of our table, we raised over $10,000 for the NMF.  Many thanks go to our volunteers who gave their time to help out.  They are:  Hannah Baker, Daisy Makanoff, Sarah Sebton, Pacita and Athos Ikonomou, Jerry Rothkoff, Sandy Rothkoff, Liza Rothkoff, Julia Rothkoff, Donald Weiss, Emily Weiss, Beth Brobst, David Makanoff, Nathan Makanoff, Annette Makanoff and Dan Makanoff. Special thanks go to our friends at the Central Jersey Tall Friends Club - Rita Bliden, Karen Brown, Conant Atwood, Tom Converse and Walt Bottomley, who came from quite a distance to help us out on the Sunday afternoon performance.
