Event Details

Heartworks St. Louis originated in 2009 and is hosted by Alan and Rebecca Braverman. Dr. Braverman, Alumni Endowed Professor in Cardiovascular Diseases and Director of the Marfan Syndrome Clinic at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital lost his father to Marfan syndrome and has a brother and nephew who are affected by the condition. St. Louis has one of the nation’s largest Marfan Syndrome Clinics and collaborates with physicians and scientists across the region and country in studies involving Marfan syndrome and related disorders.

Over the past two years, Heartworks St. Louis has honored the work of pioneering surgeons, Dr. Nicholas Kouchoukos and Dr. Gregorio Sicard, and has raised substantial funds to support the NMF’s three-pronged mission to fund research to better understand and treat Marfan syndrome, provide education to the medical community, enhance awareness and diagnosis, and to offer comprehensive support programs to ensure that those living with Marfan syndrome have the highest possible quality of life. This year, we will be honoring Drs. Keith Bridwell and Lawrence Lenke for their tremendous care for individuals with complex skeletal and spine disorders.
