Purpose:
To strengthen the relationship between the National Marfan Foundation and Tall Clubs International at the local level.
Time commitment/frequency:
Varies according to the level of activity of the local TCI club in your area.
Goals and Objectives of this Job:
1. Promote awareness of the NMF and Marfan syndrome and related disorders among TCI members.
2. Promote awareness of TCI among local NMF members.
3. Encourage collaboration of local NMF and TCI groups.
Type of work: Building the relationship between local NMF and TCI members by promoting understanding, awareness, and collaboration.
Volunteer skills/attributes needed: Strong communication skills, sociability, ability to speak about national and local NMF concerns and activities, writing skills helpful.
Benefits to the volunteer: Additional venue for meeting new friends, support for being tall, opportunity to shine as an NMF representative.
Description of responsibilities and related tasks:
• Be a representative for the NMF, a spokesperson who informs the local TCI club about the Foundation, Marfan syndrome and related disorders, and our current concerns and activities.
• Participate in the local TCI club by becoming a member (cost $25), attending their meetings and events, and sharing information between the local groups.
• Provide written communications as appropriate to the local TCI club (write newsletter articles,
Special training required:
• Orientation with NMF staff liaison to TCI
• Participation in related conference call trainings offered by the NMF that will help you speak accurately about Marfan syndrome and related disorders, the organization, and current concerns.
Related policies and/or procedures, including evaluation procedure
• Be familiar with the NMF policies on fundraising, if the local NMF and TCI groups collaborate on an event.
The NMF office will distribute surveys or evaluation forms at appropriate times. It is part of the volunteer commitment to return these forms as requested.
