Grant Program for Researchers with Faculty Appointments
The National Marfan Foundation (NMF) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Canadian Marfan Association (CMA) to support Marfan syndrome and related disorders research. Applications are being requested for a one- or two-year grant for basic or clinical research. The grant program is designed to provide financial support for investigators studying any or all disciplines involved in Marfan syndrome and related disorders. Grant awards are based on proposal evaluation by the NMF Scientific Advisory Board with the approval of the NMF Board of Directors. The NMF and the CMA will co-fund the two-year grant for $100,000. The NMF will award additional one-year grants for $50,000 each. The NMF Grant Program is partially funded by the Morford Family. The CMA Grant Program is funded by the Temerty Family Foundation.
Special areas of interest include basic research, translational studies and clinical studies in cardiovascular, genetic, orthopedic and ophthalmologic issues utilizing synergistic collaborations, integration of novel theories from non-traditional researchers into established paradigms, novel animal model systems; innovation and the distillation of knowledge into practical new therapies. Proposals from junior investigators, new investigators and international investigators are also welcomed.

NMF Victor A. McKusick Fellowship Program
The National Marfan Foundation (NMF) is proud to announce the Victor A. McKusick Fellowship Program. Two-Year Fellowship Awards are available for Ph.D.’s for up to $50,000 per year and MD’s up to $75,000 per year. Fellows up to post graduate year six will be considered. This program is designed to cultivate promising young physician scientists or research scientists conducting basic, translational or clinical research in the field of Marfan syndrome and related disorders. This award is being given to stimulate the advancement toward independent research in the field of Marfan syndrome. During the fellowship phase, the applicant will be required to work with a mentor who can provide a training environment conducive to beginning a career in any of the disciplines related to Marfan research such as cardiovascular, orthopedic, ophthalmologic, pulmonary and genetics. Fellowship awards will be given based on proposal evaluations by the NMF Scientific Advisory Board with the approval of the NMF Board of Directors. No overhead or indirect costs will be considered. Proposals must be prepared according to NMF guidelines.
