The Marfan Foundation Names New President & CEO
The Marfan Foundation today announced the appointment of John McGrath as its President and Chief Executive Officer. McGrath replaces Carolyn Levering, who served in this capacity for 20 years.
McGrath joins The Marfan Foundation from Easter Seals of New York, where he has worked for ten years in various positions, most recently as Chief Executive Director. His success in driving impact through brand building, program development, and fundraising, as well as his previous industry experience in biotech that gives him a solid knowledge of research issues, bring outstanding leadership to The Marfan Foundation.
"Our Board of Directors is impressed with John’s natural affinity for our mission. He has an understanding of organizations that are built upon strong community involvement and local support as the basis for their success,” said Ray Chevallier, Chair of the Board of Directors, The Marfan Foundation. "I am personally excited by the prospect of working closely with John in the coming years as we continue to fight for victory over Marfan syndrome and related disorders."
“The Marfan Foundation has built a strong platform over the last thirty years through the dedication and support from all corners of its community,” said McGrath. “I am committed to getting to know the individuals and families who are at the heart of our work and promise my utmost dedication to expanding our life-saving programs and services in order to make their lives better.”
McGrath begins his tenure as President and CEO of The Marfan Foundation on September 15, 2014. Levering will continue to serve the Foundation as Emeritus CEO until December 2015.
