We hold many events from coast-to-coast throughout the year to raise awareness of Marfan syndrome and related disorders, and to raise critical funds to support our work. From a cocktail party set-up by one of our dedicated volunteers, to our formal Heartworks Gala, to a walk with Walk for Victory, each and every event is important and helps us further our mission.
Additionally, here are several events held each year that provide support and education to the Marfan community. Our annual four-day national family conference and various regional symposia allow patients, their families, and medical experts to come together and connect in ways that literally save lives.
Heartworks St. Louis Gala - March 4, 2017
Heartworks St. Louis is hosted by Alan and Rebecca Braverman. It has raised more than $1.7 million since it began in 2009. Dr. Braverman, Alumni Endowed Professor in Cardiovascular Diseases and Director of the Marfan Syndrome Clinic at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, lost his father to Marfan syndrome and has a brother and nephew who are affected by the condition.
Heartworks New York City Gala - May 10, 2017
The Marfan Foundation’s Heartworks Gala, held each year in Manhattan, is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event. It has raised more than $12 million since its inception in 2000. Karen Murray, Marfan Foundation Board Member and President of VF Sportswear, created the event in 1998 as a small cocktail reception called The Marfan Artists Project.
Annual Conference - August 3 - 6, 2017 - Atlanta, GA
Every year, we hold an Annual Family Conference which provides people living with Marfan syndrome and related disorders, and their families, an opportunity to learn about these conditions from the country’s medical experts, hear about the latest research, and connect with other people who are on the same medical journey.
